This guide will help you navigate Darkmoon Faire in Classic! Darkmoon Faire has games, vendors, prizes and rewards, as well as the most important Best in Slot items for those determined souls willing to put the time and effort.

This guide covers the version of Darkmoon Faire that exists on Classic Era servers. For those looking for information about Darkmoon Faire on Burning Crusade Classic servers, please see the following guide:

 Introduction to Classic Darkmoon Faire

Darkmoon Faire offers games, prizes, vendors, rewards, and even Best in Slot items, for those who are dedicated and willful to work.

The retail Darkmoon Faire version will be familiar to those familiar with it. While you may run into familiar names, Darkmoon Faire of Classic is quite different from the regular festival it has grown throughout the years.

The differences in Darkmoon Faire between Classic and Retail

There is a long list of differences in Darkmoon Faire between Classic and Retail versions.

There isn't a Darkmoon Isle in Classic. The Darkmoon Faire is held at two places: Mulgore and Elwynn Forest. The Faire changes each month between these two locations.

The Faire program is different. Classic set-up starts on Friday, and Faire opens Monday. You can't interact with anything within the Faire premises during the setup period.

There aren't any Darkmoon Faire Mages who can teleport you to the grounds of Classic.

Vendors offer a more limited selection in Classic.

In Classic, Darkmoon Faire doesn't earn you anything other than the usual adjustments to price of the vendors, which are a part of any reputation improvements.

Games in the Classic Darkmoon Faire are just there for play. They don't have any associated daily challenges and no prizes or reputation that comes from playing them.

The +5 Profession quests that exist in Retail Darkmoon Faire were not introduced until Cataclysm and therefore are not available in Classic.

 Darkmoon Faire: History

Darkmoon Faire was added in patch 1.6 (July 2005), and had few modifications in the vanilla phase. The Humanoid Cannonball game was added in patch 1.9 (January 2006) and Tank Battle Simulator was added in patch 1.10 (March 2006) however, other than that, the Faire continued to be the same the time of the release of Burning Crusade.

In Burning Crusade, Patch 2.2 (September 2007) There was a third place was added near Shattrath City in Terrokar, and some +60 items were added to give it more utility in the 60-70 bracket. Wrath of the Lich King patch 3.1 (April 2009) brought the addition of Darkmoon Faire achievements, such as the high-ranking Darkmoon Faire status to the prerequisites to be able to claim the title "The Insane".

With the addition of Darkmoon Island, Cataclysm's patch 4.3 (November 2011) brought several of the Darkmoon Faire features that we have come to expect from Retail. This comprises the majority of games, the majority of merchandise sold by vendors, the +5 profession qus as well as the arena, dailies and island mobs, as well as NPCs that can teleport you directly from capital cities to the Faire.

You will also find other differences in Classic Retail and Classic Retail in sections that are relevant.

 Darkmoon Faire Locations and Schedule

Each month, the Darkmoon Faire changes between Elwynn Forest, south of Goldshire and Mulgore (southwest of Thunder Bluff). There is only one Faire can be set up at any certain date and time.

It is the first Friday of each month, and starts the setup.

 Setups over the weekend

 Monday Open

Closes on Sunday the following day.

During the Friday-Monday setup period You'll see work in progress, however no vendors, games, or quest NPCs will be available.

The Darkmoon Faire announces the barkers Melnan Darkstone and Kruban Darkblade announce their arrival in Ironforge.

 Darkmoon Faire Locations

Darkmoon Faire rotates between these two zones. It's not allowed to be set up more than one time per month. Refer to the above schedule for this month's location.

 Elwynn Forest

Darkmoon Faire in Elwynn Forest is situated near Goldshire, just south of the road that connects the east and west. The northern boundary of the Darkmoon Faire is where the fairgoers from Horde can visit Elwynn Forest. It is close to Goldshire, and there are some inconsiderate Alliance guards. The Faire's main location is around /way 42.0 70.0.

As Horde as Horde, go to the Elwynn Forest Darkmoon Faire

It's easy to get to the Elwynn Forest Darkmoon faire site as Horde if you are willing to trek overland in a zone up to level 30. It is a safe haven for nearly all Alliance guards except one small camp in Duskwood.

Visit the Zeppelin platform in either Ogrimmar or Undercity and then take the Zeppelin there to Grom'gol Base Camp in Stranglethorn Vale.

Once you've arrived in Grom'gol make sure you get your flight location. If you don't have one, take the road north from the camp, and then turn left at T intersection. Continue to the north along this road until you cross into Duskwood.

Take the north-bound road however, keep an watch for a small Alliance guard encampment on the right side of the road, close to the intersection of the road east-west. Swing west as soon as you see it, to avoid the camp. Don't go to the road. Instead, continue to the north following Raven Hill Cemetery and Twilight Grove.

Stay north in the corridor until you cross the river (ideally you want to be at least 30,24 in Duskwood). The river will take you to Elwynn Forest.

Continue heading north, and keep the Maclure Vineyards farm to your right. Soon you will be able to see the Darkmoon Faire site just to the south of Goldshire.

As an Alliance you can reach the Mulgore Darkmoon fair

Although the way to Mulgore is not without risks but it is unlikely you'll meet Horde guards if you are shrewd.

There are two options -- one that is shorter, and should be taken by higher-level characters, as well as a longer, but more secure option for lower-level characters.

 Menethil Harbor > Theramore> > Dustwallow Mar > Barrens> Mulgore

It is assumed that your character can travel by air to Menethil Harbor in The Wetlands. This may not be an easy route in the event that you don't have the flight point to Menethil Harbor in The Wetlands.

Dustwallow Marsh's roads and mob levels make this the best choice.

Fly to Menethil Harbor in Wetlands, and take the boat to Theramore.

Follow the road that runs from Theramore towards Dustwallow Marsh, where you will find the route going north, west, south and then west to the Barrens.

Make a turn north on the main road once you pass through the Barrens. If you can see Camp Taurajo up ahead, turn west towards the mountains and pass south of Camp T, picking up the road that runs west to Mulgore to the opposite side of.

Continue west through Mulgore until you see the small dirt road that runs north, just to the east of the pond (this road avoids Bloodhoof Village and mostly avoids guards who may wander along the road, but you'll need to watch out for the guard).

Take the road to the north while keeping the pond to your left. This will lead you safely into the Darkmoon Faire grounds.

Longer but Safer: Stormwind > Elwynn > Duskwood > Stranglethorn > Ratchet > Barrens > Mulgore

If you already have any flight paths that can speed up processes, by all means use them. This method assumes that you have no flight routes.

Follow the best way until Stormwind City and then exit into Elwynn Forest. Go south until Goldshire, and turn east.

Run east across Elwynn Forest into Redridge Mountains.

In Redridge In Redridge, make your first left and continue south into Duskwood.

Take the south-bound road through Darkshire and round an incline towards the west. Near the south end of the Twilight Grove, turn left on the road and continue south to Stranglethorn Vale.

Continue south along the length of Stranglethorn Vale from Booty Bay to Ratchet.

When you arrive in Ratchet (don't forget to collect the point of departure! Continue on the road towards the Crossroads. Then you will be able to see the Crossroads once you have observed them.

You will find the road turns west as you approach Camp Taurajo. Skirt well north of Camp T and pick up the road west to Mulgore to the opposite side.

Turn west towards Mulgore until you can see a small dirt road heading north, just to the east of the pond (this route avoids Bloodhoof Village and mostly avoids a guard that can wander this road, although you will need to keep an eye out for the guard).

Take the road to the north and keep the pond on your left. This will take you safely into the Darkmoon Faire grounds.

 Darkmoon Faire Reputation

In Classic Darkmoon Faire reputation doesn't provide any benefit beyond the usual changes in prices for vendors that are associated with any reputation improvements.

All players begin neutral (0/3000) with Darkmoon Faire.

Turn-ins up to 5999/6000 Friendly Each turn-in awards 100 reputation with Darkmoon Faire, but different-level quests can only grant reputation to certain cutoff points. For more information about cutoffs for reputation refer to the Darkmoon Tickets section.

After 5999/6000 Friendly, the sole method to increase the quality of your Darkmoon Faire reputation is turning into Darkmoon Card decks, which provide 150 rep each time you turn them in. It will take 220 decks. The trinkets that the deck quest offers can be Bind on Pickup. Classic isn't a reason to complete this task.
